13 Things You Can Scavenge From Cars After The SHTF
That’s the title of this post from Urban Survival Site. But why wait till a SHTF situation? Why not scavenge some of these items now if you can – especially if they’re free from abandon cars? I’m not suggesting you steal, but there are lots of areas where cars are simply abandoned.
As Urban Survival suggests, the first places to look are the trunk and glove box for tools and other valuables. It’s amazing what some people throw away.
Then there are some obvious things to salvage, like tires and gasoline. But there are a few you might not have thought of.
Mirrors are handy for all sorts of things from, signalling to starting fires and well, as mirrors!
Seat belts can be used as they are for straps to tie things together or they can be cut down into strips for cordage and even fishing line.
The foam in seats could be used for insulation and the fabric re-purposed into other fabrics.
I’m sure there are more than 13 things you can find, but this is a good start.
