5 discreet weapons you can carry anywhere
Grey Wolf Survival takes a look at 5 discreet weapons you can carry. Although, for some reason they put the caveat of “almost” in their post. I don’t know why as they all look like you could carry all of them anywhere.
Glaringly missing from their list of weapons is a pocket knife of course. Governments around the world are determined to disarm the public. The absurd result is that only the criminals – the ones we want to protect ourselves from – have weapons. As we see more and more terrorists attacks around the world every day, this situation is becoming even more absurd. But until that situation changes, we have to do what we can to protect ourselves and that’s where Grey Wolf’s post comes in. I’ll list them so you can see why my take on it is so important – in my humble opinion.
- Rolled up newspaper or magazine
- Cane or umbrella
The most important thing that jumps out at me from this list is – KNOWLEDGE! If you’re going to use any of these as improvised weapons, you better know how to do it properly. Otherwise, you’re going to have one pissed off criminal – only now he’s mad at you! You’re going to need to know how to use these as weapons and where to strike for the most effect. So, just don’t think you can memorize this list or carry one or two of them and that’s it. And Grey Wolf does point this out:
“What I tried to do is come up with five things that you could carry around in your hand or within easy reach in your pocket that could be used as an effective weapon if you took some time to learn how to use them – and hopefully actually took lessons from an expert (or at least done some studying and practicing on – check out something like Street Survival Guide: Self Defense Awareness, Avoidance And Fighting Techniques that gives you some street knowledge in addition to learning the moves). The best fighting system that I know of that will help you in a real-life scenario is Krav Maga.” [emphasis mine]
So you see, don’t just read their article or go out and buy some of these things on their list. Get some training!
