Should A Drone Be In Your Prepping Kit?
My initial reaction, as in most of these cases, is, it depends. But the more I think about it, it’s hard to think of a situation where a drone MIGHT not come in handy.
The Prepper Journal has a post taking a look at various situations in which drones could come in handy to a prepper. It’s something I’ve been thinking about writing about for a while but they beat me to it. Still, I think there’s a lot that could be written on the subject and I may yet write about it.
For example, hunting, farming and fishing. Hunters could use drones to scout out large areas of land they would otherwise have to walk over to find game; farmers and homesteaders could use them to look after their animals and fishermen could use them to scout for fish. Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.
The Prepper Journal goes on to point out some of the downside to using drones. Here too, there’s a lot more to consider, such as costs, ease of use and spare parts.
While drones are a relatively new technology, they are expanding rapidly in many directions. Their size and costs are coming down, while there applicability and use is expanding. It’s a brave new world.
What do you think? Is there a place for drones in the prepper/survival world?
