Homemade Coffee Can Forge Update
After we did the test run of the coffee can forge to make sure it worked. We next procured a steel truck spring from a local garage. It was in their dumpster and they were happy to let us have it for free. Free steel!
Here’s a picture of the steel spring, a curved piece we cut with an angle grinder and another curved piece my son forged into a “straight” bar. It needs a little work, but we were again just to trying to fit everything together and make sure it all worked.
His plan is to forge the straight piece into a small knife. It’s a learning experience and I’m thankful it’s getting him away from his computer. Besides, blacksmithing fits into my prepping plans!
I’ll post some pictures as he makes his knife.
