Mora Companion – A Fantastic Bushcraft Knife for Under $15
And free shipping! Folks this is a steal!
I bought this thinking it would be a cheap entry-level bushcraft knife. I couldn’t have been more wrong! This is a quality bushcraft knife from Mora. First a warning! This knife comes out of the box RAZOR SHARP! I’m not kidding folks. Be careful when you first inspect it.
I was going to do a review of it but there are already loads of them on YouTube and I’ll post one below. But first a few observations from me.
This knife is not meant to be your main survival knife. It’s what the name implies – a companion knife. It’s perfect for doing small tasks like, making feather sticks, sharpening sticks and making wood tools. You can baton with it but, as it is not a full tang blade, be careful on the size of limb you baton. And as such, the spine of the blade, near the handle is slightly rounded and not a 90 degree edge. This is to make it easier on your thumb for carving, but makes it a little harder to strike a fero rod with it and get a spark – not impossible – just a little harder. That’s why a lot of people slightly grind this area of the spine and give it a 90 degree edge.
All that said, this is a fantastic knife at an unbelievable price! At this price, you can buy more than one and put them in your truck, backpack and bug out bag. Heck you can one for each in your family! You can get them at Amazon here: Morakniv Companion Fixed Blade Outdoor Knife with Carbon Steel Blade, Military Green, 4.1-Inch
