How Much Wheat To Store For A Year And Why
“Have you ever wondered how much wheat (wheat berries) you can fit in a 5 gallon bucket?
Have you ever wondered how many loaves of bread from a 5 gallon bucket of wheat?
Have you ever wondered how much wheat to store in your long term food storage?”
Knowing how much to store is going to be dependent on a couple of factors. Such as, how many in your family and what percent of your caloric intake will come from the bread you make. For me and what I’ve read about a family of 5, this sounds about right.
“If 25% of your caloric intake came from your wheat bread, then you would need about 120 pounds of wheat, or about 3.5 (5-gallon buckets) of wheat.”
Of course, if you have room, I’d store more.
It’s interesting how they worked that out, so be sure and read the entire article.
