Post Collapse Professions Vital To Survival
Preppers Will takes a look at some. Most on their list are ones you probably have already thought of like, masonry, carpentry, medical, etc. I’m glad to see they’ve included a vital one you may not have thought of – Leadership!
Preppers Will talks about leadership in the broader context of not just surviving but thriving. But leadership is going to be needed from the very outset.
Now, I know what many of you may be thinking, I have no leadership skills or experience. But is that really true? Are you a parent? Led a boy or girl scout group? A church group? A school club? Then you have leadership skills and experience. Even if you haven’t, you can read and learn some essential skills. Or, volunteer for some local group and get some experience.
Do you have an every day carry (EDC) bag? Then you’re a leader. In the immediate aftermath of an emergency, people are panicking. The sooner that gets under control, the better everyone’s chances of survival are. And usually all it takes is for someone to make that first decision. If you have an EDC bag and depending on the situation, just taking out a flashlight shows things can be brought under control. Maybe someone needs a band aid. Pull one out of your EDC bag and bingo! Problem solved. Panicking cause stress and stress causes dehydration. Pull out a water bottle and presto! People feel better. And on and on it goes. If you have an EDC bag, chances are you know the threes of survival – air, water and food. Maybe they don’t know them and by you telling them, they listen – leadership.
It’s a great post by Preppers Will so be sure and read the whole thing. Use it as a checklist like you do your supplies. How many of those skills do you have? Does anyone in your family have any of them? Your friends? Neighbours? They will be your support group in a grid down situation. No man is an island.
