The Most Important Prepper Question!
All around us are signs the world is headed for another world economic collapse. The prices for raw materials are collapsing as China’s economy cools down. This has a knock on effect on those countries producing those materials, resulting in massive job losses. The price of oil has collapsed and is forecast to collapse even further. This has led to massive job losses here in the UK and is starting to have effects on America. There were recent warnings that a lot of US bank loans to oil companies are going to default. Just yesterday, France declared an economic emergency. It’s a question of when, not if. Which leads to the most important prepper question.
We should learn some lessons from the last world economic crash of 2008 and be prepared. The two biggest things I remember about that crash were, the massive job losses and mortgage repossession. The mortgage repossession was further exasperated by the banks massively hiking interest rates to try to cover their losses. When I was young and had my first job, someone gave me some great advice. They said, always have an answer for this question: What would you do if you lost your job tomorrow? That’s the most important question every prepper should always have an answer for.
After reading this, sit down somewhere quiet with pad and pen. Visualize you’ve just been told you have lost your job. What would your world look like? Visualize it in great detail. Make a list of what you would have to cut out immediately. List how much “real money” you could get your hands on immediately – I mean cash and not stocks – and where it is. Ask yourself, how many months will that money last to pay the bills – including mortgage? How many months of food and supplies do you have on hand?
Make a list of all your family, friends and contacts who might be able to give you a job. Update your resume. Make a list of ways you could make some money with your own labour and skills; including online.
Now that you’ve got your lists, you should have a pretty good picture of how well prepared you are for the next world economic collapse.
Time for Action!
The time for action is now! Don’t wait till the collapse comes. Get prepared and you’ll be able to weather the storm.
Look at your cash available. How long will it last? Experts recommend you have 3 to 6 months expenses in cash. I’d go for the longer one myself. If you don’t have that much, look at your list of what you’d have to cut out if you lost your job. Can you cut some of that out now and put that money towards your emergency fund? If you have enough cash available, then look at your supplies. How long will they last? Maybe put some money you save into bolstering you supplies. Google how to save money for ways you can save now. Here is a list of 300 to get you started.
Look at your list of family, friends and contacts. When is the last time you spoke to or saw them? What are they doing? How would an economic collapse affect them? Who among them could give you a job? Speak to them about your concerns. Time to start bolstering up those networks.
Make a list of the companies around the area where you live that survived the last economic collapse. Look at your resume. Do you have the skills they would need if you lost your job and wanted to work for them? If not, see if you can acquire some of them now and add them to your resume.
